Daybreak Diary

October, 1999

While in New York for the CCR National Specialty, we stopped by and viewed Niagara Falls. We also enjoyed a peaceful afternoon visiting local wineries, where Java was a popular attraction. This was our first experience at air and hotel travel with a dog. I think we all made it through quite well.

To get rid of some energy, Java enjoyed romping in the surf on Fiesta Island while visiting San Diego for the 2000 National Specialty.

October, 2000

I undertook a Breed Study, traveling Central Europe visiting many breeders, judges and Curlies. While there, I was very fortunate to attend a Flat Coated Retriever Club Field Day and a Gun Dog Test, both in Holland, and a benched All-breed show in Germany.

January, 2001

A return to Northern Europe to meet additional breeders, judges and Curlies I had not had the opportunity to see on my previous trip. At an All-breed show in Finland I was pleasantly surprised to run into a breeder who had bred some of the dogs behind Java and some people were even so generous as to go home to bring back some of Java's remote relatives to meet!

June, 2001

We helped to organize an host the GLCCRC's Working Certificate (WC) event. We had a great time at the Lake Minnetonka Shows in the morning, Super Singles fun "fetch-off", and a Barbecue at our lake afterwards.
